Goody Spin Pin Demo On Natural Hair

I was sent some products to review from which is a cool site that picks individuals to receive a VoxBox filled with new products.  In the video I am showing you how I use the Not Your Mothers Smooth Moves Frizz Cream to smooth my natural hair into a low bun with the Goody Spin Pin.  I was sent a light color spin pin but as you can see in the video it is easily hidden inside of the bun.

All in all I really like the Not your Mother's hair cream because it tamed down my frizz and smelled great.  The Goody Spin pin is really convenient for me and my hair journey because it allows you to wear hairstyles that are tension free and the pin does not pull out any hair strands when removing it.

How I AM Maintaining My Natural Hair Under Lace Wigs

I have been reading some of my blog comments regarding wearing lace wigs and natural hair care concerns, so I am going to update my experience with wearing lace wigs and how I have been able to retain length and keep my edges in tact.
One main thing that I have been doing is making sure I apply a scalp treatment to my hair care regimen and my current treatment is from Eden Body Works and their Peppermint Oil and Tea Trea Hair Oil Spray.
This hair oil is amazing for providing the scalp with a tingling sensation and opening up the follicles in order to receive the amazing ingredients that this hair oil provides.  I just recently added this product to my hair care regimen but it seems to be working out really well.  It's best when I apply it right after I have cleansed my scalp with a clarifying shampoo and either a moisturizing conditioner like Giovanni Smooth As Silk  or a protein based conditioner like the Aphogee 2 minute Reconstructer.  Then I spray my hair with a liquid leave in treatment and follow that with a creamy leave in, my current favorites are Pantene Pro V Medium Thick Silkening Detangler and Kinky Curly Knot Today.  Once I have moisturized my hair with the above products I seal in that moisture with a natural oil like grape seed oil or olive oil.  Lately I have been using the Carol's Daughter Hair Balm pomade to seal the moisture into my hair strands and it smells wonderful.
Curls Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste - 4 fl. oz..Opens in a new window
Now, as far as styling goes, I am really liking the Curls Passion fruit curl control paste for maintaining and smoothing my edges down while giving them the moisture and natural growth aid they need.  Sometime I may use ORS lock and twist gel to flat twist my hair or french braid my hair down flat so that I can wear my lace wig.  This was in about 2012 but I am still using most of these products especially the curls paste which is pictured above.  My natural hair is almost mid back length now but I have had some setbacks in 2013 so I am working on full mid back length which is my ultimate goal.

Sheer Cover Duo Concealer Review

I received this product complimentary to test through Influenster’s VoxBox program and I am writing this review based on my personal opinion and own skin needs.  I have very sensitive skin so it is very important for me to find products that will not break me out and will help my face look flawless when wearing makeup.  This concealer did not cause me any breakouts.
The Sheer Cover Duo Concealer is really lightweight and very smooth to the touch with medium to full coverage.  Do not dig your finger or a makeup spatula into this product because you will find that it will create a big dent in your concealer, I made this mistake.  I did find that I needed to really build this product up to get the coverage I desired, but the color match seemed to work really well for my summer skin tone.  I have the Sheer Cover Duo Concealer in Deep Dark and it is split off into two halves, with one side being a lighter shade and the other is the darker shade.  I mixed the two colors together and found that it was almost a perfect shade for my skin tone.  I usually apply concealer with my fingers because I like to warm the product up between my fingers before putting it on my face.  This product is very smooth and creamy so it is a great under eye concealer to hide dark circles other skin discolorations.
Would I purchase this item?  I would, but only as a back up because I need heavier coverage for my scars because my scars are very pigmented, plus it does not offer any SPF protection.  You can check out this concealer out at

Sally Hansen Salon Effects {Animal Instinct} Product Review

So, I received the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips in Animal Instinct from in their Spring Beauty VoxBox and I must say that I am really impressed with this product.  I decided to improvise and put the strips on my toes instead of on the fingernails like they were intended for and I must say that I think it turned out pretty good.  The strips are easy to use and don't require much skill to apply, plus the instructions are very easy to understand.   The staying power seems to be great, I just recently applied them, but so far they are holding up well through my daily activities.  I recorded some footage of my actual pedicure using the salon effects strips and I will post the link here to the YouTube video when I am done editing.  You will see how I do my multicolored pedicures that I have been doing for over a year now, the only time my toe nails have all been the same color is when I do a French Tip pedicure, otherwise I have been loving using more than one color on my nails.

I do have a designer collection set of salon effect strips in denim skinny jeans that I will also love trying this summer and I saw that Sally Hansen recently released these nail polish strips for the toes in their new pedicure line and I am excited to try that as well.
The main thing I love about these Sally Hansen nail polish strips is that you don't get the harsh chemical smell like you do with regular nail polish and also you can touch your nails right away and they won't smudge.  You can apply these nail strips and go on about your day from there, no wait time/drying time involved.  I would say give these salon effects nail polish strips a try, they are worth it.
